Completed December 2015
- An opportunity to bring some authenticity and life back into a beautiful Georgian house that had been stripped of any character over a number of years.
- This included working closely with the client to achieve their dream of a ‘country house’.
- my role was to translate their verbal requests and wish-list into a reality.
- This included re-planning of some rooms, lighting arrangements; but also allow for furniture placement, space on walls for pictures etc., curtain stacking, and wall light positions.
- Existing bathrooms were re-designed to bring them up to date visually and technically.
- New electrics and plumbing provision throughout allowing for more efficient heating, lighting and sound to all of the principal rooms and bedroom spaces as well as the large areas of circulation.
- A new staircase was designed to improve the access to the upper floor, as well as giving the large double volume hallway a more imposing feel, without being to grandiose.
- Extensive redecoration, using a combination of painted wood panelling with decorative wallpapers and a soft palette of main colours, enhanced by stronger colours for impact in certain rooms.
- Luxurious carpeting and ‘distressed’ timber floors fitted to create a ‘lived in’ look.
- The use of a combination of bespoke furniture i.e. sofas, built in storage, along with clients existing furniture, and recently purchased antique furniture and lighting and oriental rugs, reframed and relocated artworks and artefacts all add to the ambience of the house, and the sensation of having evolved rather than appearing from nowhere.
- The client is very happy and has more to do.
